XP Home - When I access files via he windows explorer
route, after a few seconds a message pops up and
says "windows explorer has encountered an error and must
close" and then it closes. Does anyone have any idea what
is going on with my computer? HELP!

Kirsti, sounds like you have the Trojan Qhost. Go to this
site for help in removing it...

Kristi;
Look in the Event Viewer. From XP HELP:

Using Event Viewer:
Event Viewer maintains logs about program, security, and system events on your computer.
You can use Event Viewer to view and manage the event logs, gather information about
hardware and software problems, and monitor Windows security events.

To open Event Viewer, click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
Double-click Administrative Tools, and then double-click Event Viewer.

For information about using Event Viewer, in Event Viewer, on the Action menu, click Help.
Look for the error and follow where it leads.
