Windows Explorer Crashes when using right hand side scrollbar

This problem only seems to happen in Wndows Explorer, it does not
happen in internet explorer or when scrolling within add/remove
programs.

Example - Open "My Computer" > Open "Local Disk C:" > then use mouse
to move righthand scroll bar > error message "Windows Explorere has
encountered a problem and needs to close." > Next error message "Dr
Watson Postmortem Debugger".

Also I do not get the error message if I use the keyboard arrows to
navigate Windows Explorer.

This problem exsists in all windows profiles, I have uninstalled IE7
tested in IE6 then reinstalled IE7. I have cleared all temp files and
checked registry using ccleaner. I have also cleared a minimal amount
of spyware using spybot s&d. Everyone has their own favourite
cleaners but I have found those 2 very good in the past. I have ran
all MS updates, tried uninstalling the AV and any other unneccessary
software but the problem still exsists.

Please post a copy of the Error Report from Event Viewer.

You can access Event Viewer by selecting Start, Control Panel,
Administrative Tools, and Event Viewer.

A tip for posting copies of Error Reports! Run Event Viewer and double
click on the error you want to copy. In the window, which appears is a
button resembling two pages. Click the button and close Event
Viewer.Now start your message (email) and do a paste into the body of
the message. Make sure this is the first paste after exiting from
Event Viewer.

Faulting application statusclient.exe has also been cured, think this
problem was solved with the change of verify.dll file.

All your Reports are from the Application log. Does this mean there are
no errors or warnings in the System log?

The error to concentrate on seems to be that involving "explorer exe"
and "comctl32.dll". The Dr Watson error seems to be a consequence of the
first error. A search using Google and other resources does not throw
this up as a common error.

I would try Start, Run, type "sfc /scannow" without quotes and hit
Enter.

The PC is for business use and the user is due to retire at the end of
the month.

Even though I would like to spend the time getting to the root of the
problem, time/money restraints dictate that the PC will be completely
re-installed at the beginning of next month.
