I use windows XP professional service pack 1. Windows
explorer crashes when its generating thumbnails for video
files. Happens completely randomly, and not to all files,
but to approximately 1 out of 30 files in a list. Never
happened before. Anyone got any explanations or solutions?

Hi Mike,

It has to do with how Windows XP previews files when opened with Explorer.

Automated Edit: This edit prevents high usage when browsing AVI files.

AVI Search Remove (Line 74)

Manual Edit: Go to Start/Run/Regedit and navigate to the key below and
delete the default data (right pane).

For AVI's

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\SystemFileAssociations\.avi\
shellex\PropertyHandler
