Windows Explorer CPU Usage

I've noticed that, after a couple of days without rebooting, Windows
Explorer CPU usage can shoot up to around 25%. Logging off and on again
fixes the problem but it would be nice to pinpoint why this is happening.

Has anyone else noticed this? I'm using Vista Home Premium (32-bit) and
installing SP1 hasn't helped. I also never use Windows Explorer
explicitly for file and folder management, much preferring the shareware
product xplorer2.
