Windows Explorer and SP2

M

me

After installing SP2 I have the following problems :

Upon reboot Windows Explorer starts up in the C:\Program Files\Common\Bin
folder. I have checked the startup folder and there is nothing there. I have
checked
via msconfig also and there is nothing.

Next issue is if I right click on ANY file Windows Explorer "reboots"
itself. Same
thing happens if I try to delete a file with the Delete key or if I try to
delete it with
Windows Explorer.

Anyone one else having these problems or know of a solution?

What is in the "Bin" folder? What does a scan with a current antivirus
program (meaning a version not earlier than 2002 and using updated
virus definitions) show? Is your computer 100% virus and spyware-free?

THere have been a number of posts about Explorer opening on boot,
if you scan some of the previous postings you can get good suggestions
on how to try to fix that.

For the Windows Explorer crashes, there has been an ongoing stream
of people who have it crash when they right click or when they click.
There have been a handful of claims about what is causing that but
I don't think there has been any "fix" for that in the thousands and
thousands of postings made in the last week or two.

Some will swear it is all "viruses and spyware and stupid users."
Some will claim it is all ShellExtensions.
Some will claim it is bad applications.

sorry
