Windows Explorer and Send To Problems

R

Richard D

I have 3 problems that I just cannot seem to find any
info on how to fix them. I have had them for quite some
time. The first 2 are a real pain in the rear!! Please
help!!

(1) A few seconds to a minute or two after I open My
Computer or Windows Explorer, my desktop icons and system
tray icons disappear for a few seconds. The desktop
icons re-appear ok but only 2 or 3 of the system tray
icons re-appear. The only way I know to fix this is
either reboot or log off and back on. Windows Explorer or
My Computer closes too.

(2) If I am in Windows Explorer (not My Computer) and I
double-click on a drive in the right pane it opens it in
a new window even though I have it set to open in 1
window. This isn't a problem in My Computer.

(3) My Send To menu is not sorted by name in the context
menu.

Thanks!

Hi

1) It sounds like your explorer crashes and restarts. Icons dissapearing
after explorer crash is a known problem and I think I have seen a utility
that fixes them back too. Search with google.

2) It is that way because it is set that way, its only a matter of
configuration and you can change that in your folder option. make 'explore'
default, not the open command for your folder action

3) have you tried to change its order manually in your sendTo folder? might
help.. not sure though
