WINDOWS exploer crashes

when I use my media player 9, I get the message that windows has encountered a problem and must shut down then I loose everything I have in my task bar and must start over. This happens when a play and stop the media player as I use it for putting radio shows and playlists for shows together. Is there a way to fix this.
