We are using Windows mail (VISTA). When I click on a email hyperlink, on any
internet site, I get about 41 windows opening stating "navigation to webpage
was canceled, retry typing the address". I rechecked the settings in Windows
mail to make sure it was setup as our default email, which it is. Question
is who do I set up Windows Mail, so that when I click on a email address on
an internet site that it will automatically open our windows mail? Any
suggestions?

"Turn off the User Account Control (UAC) for your account in the
control panel under User Accounts. You will have to reboot after doing
this. Then set Windows Mail as the default email account again and test
to make sure the change has taken. Once you have it set as default,
then you should be able to turn the UAC back on (reboot required) and
have Windows Mail stay as the default."

(Based on an successful solution provided by Lumpy Cat
for a similar scenario concerning Incredimail.)

note. Windows Mail is set as default via

Control Panel > Default Programs > Set your Default Programs

Thanks for the suggestion, unfortunately I tried your solution, and it did
not correct the problem.

Try going to Start | Search and copy and paste this into it:

"C:\Program Files\Windows Mail\WinMail.exe" OCInstallReinstallOE

see if that fixes it.

Typing (or pasting) a command in the Start search bar and hitting Enter
has the same effect as executing that command in a Command Prompt
window or the Run box that XP had.

Gary, thank you for the explanation, I copied and pasted that command the
Steve suggested, unfortunately that did not work either.
Does anyone have any other suggestions??

Can anyone help me with attaching a hyperlink to my signature in windows mail
please.

In the future start a new thread, don't jump in on one.

You need an HTML file for your signature if you want a hyperlink in it.

You can copy the following and paste it into Notepad and then edit it as
needed and then save it as an htm file and then designate that as your
signature.

<HTML>
<BODY>
some text here
<a href="http://www.microsoft.com">click here for Microsoft</a>
</BODY>
</HTML>

If you are using plain text messaging, then you can just paste in the
hyperlink (with no alias) into the current signature, such as your email
address (which will automatically be given a mailto hyperlink function) or a
URL, such as www.microsoft.com
