Not able to send emails

M

Mandy

I am able to receive email from my windows live account into Windows Mail.
But when ever I try to send it comes back with errors. I have checked and
rechecked over and over again the settings. This is the error I keep getting:

"The message could not be sent. The authentication setting might not be
correct for your outgoing e-mail [SMTP] server. For help solving this
problem, go to Help, search for "Troubleshoot Windows Mail", and read the
"I'm having problems sending e-mail" section. If you need help determining
the proper server settings, please contact your e-mail service provider.

The rejected e-mail address was 'Brenda Book ([email protected])'.
Subject 'Memorial to Faith Marie', Account: 'pop3.live.com', Server:
'smtp.live.com', Protocol: SMTP, Server Response: '501 5.5.4 Invalid
Address', Port: 25, Secure(SSL): Yes, Server Error: 501, Error Number:
0x800CCC79?"

It comes back with this error no matter who I use as the email address I am
sending it to.

There is something about the formatting of that email address
''Brenda Book ([email protected])' that the server does not like.
Somehow you have combined the recipient's name with their email
address. Was this filled in automatically from your Contacts? Examine
the Contacts entry for that recipient for invalid syntax.

I tried to set the server to 587 and that still didn't work.

Your Hotmail account is not properly configured in Windows Mail.

Use the Configuration Settings on this page:

NB: Set Outgoing server (SMTP) to Port 587, not Port 25!

Post the new/latest error message in its entirety.

Can you send a message to your OK?

I tried to set the server to 587 and that still didn't work.

Have you verified that the entries in your Contacts are using a
correct format, no illegal characters like parentheses?
Try hand-addressing a test message, but don't use a recipient who is
already in your Contacts.

Has this worked previously? Did you make any changes, after which
it stopped working?

Which antivirus are you running? Some of them cause problems with
Windows Mail over time.
