Windows DVD Maker... PLEASE HELP!

Okai.. I just got Windows Vista and somehow I can't write DVD'S in Windows
DVD Maker.. It won't allow me to add any files.. A window pops up that says:
current file is not valid og ir corrupt.
This come with every single file I try to add.
Please help me.. I want to make DVD

And also.. if I write .avi files, will I be able to play the DVD in every
DVD player?

You may wish to visit the Microsoft video newsgroup (below) if you
want more specific discussion on video related topics. In short DVD
Maker accepts PROJECT files from Movie Maker. Since Microsoft didn't
see fit to include DVD Maker in the business version of Vista which I
use, I'm in the dark as to all the problems with it. They come up a
lot in the video group. The full name of the other Newsgroup follow
below:

microsoft.public.windows.vista.music_pictures_video

DVD's aren't based on AVI files. They require MPEG-2 format. You may
start with a AVI as a source file to convert to a MPEG-2, then go on
to burn or do DVD Authoring then finally burn to a DVD.

Again, you'll run into a whole load of problems with Movie Maker. It
is after all basically just a toy. You will save yourself a lot of
frustration using one of many third party video editing tools. I
comment quite a bit in the other newsgroup on video topics.

you cannot make a DATA DVD and have a normal DVD player play it unless the
DVD player is divx capable
and the avi are divx encoded...

THEREFORE you must make a VIDEO DVD that is not the same thing as above.
Nero has the ability to convert and create the dvd-video. Some reading is
