Windows DVD Maker crashes

I have Windows Vista Ultimate installed on my computer. (Athlon X2 5600+, 2
GB DDR-2 800, ATI Radeon 2900XT, 320GB SATA-II Seagate HDD, Asus M2R32-MVP
Crossfire MoBo, LiteOn 20X DVD-RW drive, AverTV HDTV Tuner Card.) I have 2
issues. First, Windows DVD Maker crashes every time I try to burn a DVD. I
tried the same project 3 times. I used Windows Media Encoder 9 to encode a
VHS through my tuner card, then Windows Movie maker to edit out a couple of
clips. I recorded it at the highest WMV bitrate available (a 15 min video
takes up about 1 1/2 GB or so.) Windows Movie maker plays and edits the
video file just fine, but when I try to burn it to DVD is when I have a
problem. Windows DVD Maker opens fine, and I can edit and save the project
at any stage. I click on the button to burn the project to DVD, and it
starts the burning process. But here's the problem... As soon as the burn
process starts, the window greys out (like it does in Vista when a program
stops responding) and then I get a message that Windows DVD maker has an
error and needs to close. I looked up the event viewer and the only info
available is error 42. It doesn't give any specific information about it at
all. I shouldn't have any 3rd party codecs, except for what would have been
installed with my ATI graphics card (Avivo stuff) or possibly the AverTV
tuner card. Any ideas or suggestions would be great. I'd really like to use
the built in DVD maker program, since it is much more streamlined than most
of the 3rd party apps out there. Thanks!

Here is a pasted copy of what I see in the event viewer. Like I said,
there's not much info there.

P.S. if I save the project in Windows Movie maker as an Mpeg file, I can use
that file and successfully burn a DVD. It appears to only have a problem if
I am currently editing a movie and click on the DVD link on the left of the
screen. It then takes the unfinished project and opens it with the DVD maker
where you can add a menu and then burn to DVD.

Pardon my ignorance...how does one "save the project in Windows Movie maker
as an Mpeg file"? My only choices are .avi and .wmv...

Hm - what's in the Problem Reports and Solutions center for that crash?

The Event Viewer doesn't have as much information. =)
