Do I need all the files under this folder? Looking at the files, indicated I
have a lot of damaged files. Can I safely remove these files without
affecting computer? Thanks for answer!

Hi

Depends on the content of that folder as to whether any can be removed.
Some are MS files, such as for Office Update, Windows Update etc. If you
deleted any, you may have to reinstall them at a later date.

Where are you looking exactly?
What indicates you have "damaged files" ?

These files interact with web pages,an example is if you go to Symantec's
website to do an online virus scan it will add an active X control for the
scan and place it in this folder,if you have damaged ones then yes you can
safely delete them,if you ever go back to the website that installed it an it
is needed again another one will be installed.

Try this...

Start | Run | Type: inetcpl.cpl | OK |
General tab | Settings button | View Objects button |
Right click each Damaged file | Click: Update |

If that doesn't work...

Start | Run | Type: inetcpl.cpl | OK |
General tab | Settings button | View Objects button |
Right click each Damaged file | Click: Remove

Whatever file it was, if needed, will be downloaded again when you visit
whatever web site the file came from.
