Problem with Downloaded Program Files

I have a Dell Dimension 8200 computer with windows XP Pro (SP2) and current
MS updates installed (except for month of Jan 2007). I looked at the file
entries in the Downloaded Program Files (C:\WINDOWS\Downloaded Program
Files) and noticed the status of many of the files were listed as DAMAGED.
There were more of the DAMAGED files than listed below, but I was able to
right click on some of the files, select the update command, and the file
status then become Installed. However, the files listed below, when I
selected update, no status change was noticed. I clicked on these files
again and the update command was not listed, only the remove and properties
commands
were then listed as available.

Any suggestions would be very much appreciated in how to resolve the below

Remove them. If they are needed again they will be offered again for
download when you visit whatever web site needs them.
