WinXP SP1a seems to forget where I want to download when I do.
I used to allways download to a temp folder ( to check for virus and so on ,
and then store in dedicated folders), but now Windows since several days
allways only suggests the Desktop as target ! First time I had run an MRU
list eraser, thus I thought it was normal. However that persists.
Any idea ?

Hi,

Here's How you can set the download dir.

IMPORTANT: This method contains information about editing the registry.
Before you edit the registry, you should first make a backup copy of the
registry.

Method by Registry Settings
========================
1. Start->Run
2. Type "Regedit.exe"
3. Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer
4. Change the value of the string "Download Directory" to the new path you
want to assign.
5. If the key does not exist create a new string by :
Value Name : "Download Directory"
Type : REG_SZ
Value Data : "C:\My Downloads" (You could type any vaild path)
6. Please restart you system to take effect.

Hope this helps .... :)
