windows don't remember size

I increased the resolution of my monitor from 1024x768 to the next level up.
IE windows and other windows are now smaller than I want them, but after
resizing them, and re-opening them, they revert to the small size. How to
get them to remember the new size?

Here's some things to try....

Adjust to the size wanted then close via File --> Exit (not by using X)

Hold shift as you close the window

Right click on the shortcut --> select Properties --> change Run->Normal
Window to Run->Maximized

Delete the Delete Window Position key from
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main

Use http://www.jiisoft.com/iemaximizer/Default.aspx
