Windows does not recognize my 1394 controller ?

I have just purchased a GWC EC-100 3 port 1394 controller
to put in my Del Dimension running Win 2K SP4.

The manufacture said that they do not ship device drivers
for the 1394 controller because it is native to W2K.

When the plug and play manager comes up it does not find
any sutable drivers not are there any on the MS site.

Any suggestions on where to find a driver?

thanks.

Does Device Manager show it as 1394 controller or unknown device? If the
latter reseat the card, or it could be defective.

Thanks Eric,

As it turned out the 1394.PNF file was corrupt. I
replaced the 1394.inf & 1394.PNF and the card was then
recognized and works. Thanks you very much,

Finally got the answer that worked. Thanks for the couple of contributors
that helped.
Hi Dean,

Just had a similar problem with another customer. On Windows 2000 try
running Regedt32.exe, it has a Security menu up the top of the screen which
allows you to change the permissions manually. Hope this helps

FWIW: my 'fix'

This is crude, but it worked for me. I had reseated the firewire pci card several times without luck. Finally I tried swapping slots, placing my sound card in the slot that I'd installed the firewire card in, then installing the firewire card in the sound card's previous slot. That did it. Go figure. (Sound card works fine in the other slot.)
