Windows Detect/Display Conflict?

In "my computer" windows shows my DVD-R-RW and my CD-R-RW
just show as regular CD-R's but in "device Manager" under
System Info within the control panel they're shown as the
correct devices. Plextor CD-R-RW and Pioneer DVD-R-
RW...etc... I've un-installed them, reinstalled them
changed drivers and reconfigured them till I can't stand
it anymore. I thought perhaps that it may have something
to do with admin services but services are all correct,I
think, (no obvious issues)? Anyway, no matter how many
times I reconfigure the stupid things windows reports the
conflicting info and prevents them from preforming as
designed. I did a Direct X diag and that report didn't
show the drives at all. HELP!! Any thoughts would be
welcomed!
