Sorry, no free email support. And now that you've posted your full unmunged
email address on Usenet, you'll get a lot more spam.

http://www3.telus.net/dandemar/munad.htm - how to munge email address

The first troubleshooting step is to run a diagnostic utility on your hard
drive. Test the hard drive with a diagnostic utility downloaded from the
drive mftr.'s website. You will create a bootable CD with the file you
download. You will need third-party burning software to do this such as
Roxio, Nero, or the free ImgBurn. Burn as an image, not as data.

Boot with the CD you made and do a thorough test of the drive. If it fails
any physical tests, replace it.

Testing hardware failures often involves swapping out suspected parts with
known-good parts. If you can't do the testing yourself and/or are
uncomfortable opening your computer, take the machine to a professional
computer repair shop (not your local equivalent of
BigComputerStore/GeekSquad). If possible, have all your data backed up
before you take the machine into a shop.

I was being plagued by this on one particular server a while back. There
were no other indications of trouble, and as far as I could see, no data was
being lost. I think it can be the result of timing incompatibilites in a SATA
interface. Thus, best to investigate it but if you can't pin it down, don't
tear your hair out over it.

Very true, although the effectiveness of munging with anything in caPITals
is questionable, it being trivially easy to create a regex which will
identify and remove any section consisting of more than one capital in the
middle of a word.

To make it harvesting-proof you need to be slightly more creative, and do
something which a machine (or rather, a malign coder) cannot anticipate.
