Delayed Write Failed

Andrija

Please help! Today when I turned on computer this error started to show up.
It says:
Windows - Delayed Write Failed
Windows was unable to save all the data for the file
C:\WINDOWS\temp\HTT1C7.tmp. The data has been lost.
This error may be caused by a failure of your computer
hardware or network connection. Please try to save this file
elsewhere.

Now the errors just begun to pop out every few minutes. And each time it
says something else like HTTA6 or similar HTT-s. Please if anybody knows the
cure tell me.

Thanks in advance,
Andrija.

A "delayed write failed" message typically means that you disconnected
an external device - typically an external hard drive or USB 'flash'
drive - while the device was still writing. If you do not have any such
devices, the message means your internal hard drive may be failing.

Hi Andrija,

Check the Event Viewer (Control Panel > Admin Tools > Event Viewer) or
(Start > Run > eventvwr.msc) and check for any "Disk" events or any
other Events that have a Warning or Error indicator.

This sounds like a Hard Drive failure could be in the near future.

Yes I checked the Event Viewer and under the System tab there are million
(well not million but thousand) of warnings; but strangely all warnings are
from yesterday 17.03. ??? and under the source it says: disk. There is one
warning in the MSFWSVC from today source: MSFWSVC. What does that mean? Don't
tell me that I have to replace my hard disk. :( All my life is on that disk!
I will check it with the hardware diagnostic tool... And I will inform you.

This is an indication that your drive is failing, and doing tests on a
failing drive will not extend its life; instead, they will use up the
limited time it has. You should use that time to be sure that the data on
that drive is safe.

Hard disks are not expensive these days. Where I am, 1-terabyte disks are
just over $100 and 250-gig drives are around $60. What are your time and
data worth?

Power down the system, get a new hard disk. Remove the old hard disk, do
an install to the new hard disk. After the install is complete and you've
also installed the system drivers, attach the old drive and copy the data
over to a spot on the new drive. When done, power down, remove the old
drive and set it aside.

In that case, power down and replace the disk. Sounds like you don't have
it backed up.

Don't run it again until you are ready to copy the data off it.
