Windows Delayed Write Failed message

Q

Qal

I'm trying to copy some jpeg data from an external hard
drive connected to my pc through the usb port. I have
successfully copied mp3 and text data, but when I try to
copy jpeg files, which are just photos, the copying
process starts fine but stops and hangs indenfinately at
a specific point approximately half way through the
process and I get an error message reading as follows:

"Window-Delayed Write Failed
Windows was unable to save all the data for the file
G:$Mft. The Data has been lost" and it carries on to say
it may be due to drive failure.

I also tried to scan this drive with my AV and it also
hangs there at specific point different to the point
above. Does anyone know why? Thanks

If the drive or folders on the drive are shared try turning off sharing and
retest - I had a similar problem and this fixed it.

See this very long thread for some possible suggestions but read it all
first..

Also how big is the drive? > 137G?
