You don't. But you can disable it in CONTROL PANEL|WINDOW
DEFENDER|TOOLS menu|OPTIONS

I'm sorry, but you cannot uninstall Windows Defender in Vista. You an

Thanks for the info.Running Vista for a month now,and I am just about
fed up with it.It is like 2 900 pound men running a 100 meter race.If
sp1 don't speed it up,I will be looking for drivers to reinstall My
retail version of XP.

I turned it off right away too. I didn't look for a way to uninstall,
because I figure I can run a check manually if/when I want. It's not
even a virus checker, but a malware checker. Isn't checking the
perimeter -- when files are downloaded or installed -- enough?
