What should be the correct/feasable setting for timeout in the boot loader?
That is for WinVista Home Premium, SP1, 32 bit.
Mine is set at 60 seconds.

Hi,

The norm is 3 unless you are using a multiboot and need more time to
select the proper entry.

Thanks Rick and to the Night Hawk.

When trying to change the setting to anything lower, it keeps resetting
itself to 60 sec's.
IOW my 'Vista' doesn't want to be messed with!

Learning never ceases, thank you, Rick. <H>.

Ooops, when I used 30 and 10 sec's it reset itself, but inserting 5sec's it
stuck.
Thought to let you know.

Hi,

Are you multibooting? That line is ignored if you're not.

Finally I've figured it out:
My default setting is at 60 sec's. and if I change it, the startup will
change with it from 'normal' to 'selective'. If that is speeding the
procedure up, it seems hardly noticable.

Harry.
