Could you supply some information on what your OS is, firewall, anti-virus,
other RTP programs (Spybot S&D with the tea timer) (Counter Spy) (Spy
Sweeper), etc? Do you have Windows Live OneCare installed?

The error message is more likely to occur on Windows Vista images where the
Windows Defender signatures are out of date.

Please confirm you have the latest version as follows

Windows Defender versiºn: 1.1.1593.0 XP-32 bit system
Windows Defender versiºn: 1.1.1505.0 Vista-32 bit system
Engine Versiºn: 1.1.3109.0
Definition Versiºn: 1.24.4886.0 created ºn 12/20/2007 ªt 1:56 PM

Thanks Engel, I just ran defender again to see if I could get more info with
Dr. Watson on and the Defender ran all the way through. I am ignorant with
this stuff. I have Windows XP and I down loaded Defender about two two or
three weeks ago and updated it today. As for firewall, ante-virus, and other
RTP (which I have know idea that is) all of it should be from windows. I had
Norton and removed part of it because it was conflicting with windows
anti-virus. I would still like to know what 0x800106b5 is because I have used
a error code before to fix a problem. I just don't have the book where I got
from any more. Need to get another.

Windows does Not come with an Antivirus program!
Could you elaborate on what Antivirus program you have.

I'm confused now. Maybe it was embarq that had anti-virus. I don't know i am
really ignorant when it comes to this stuff. I'm trying to learn. I do have
windows live onecare, as well as Webroot Spy sweeper, and Window washer. But
like I told Engel, I ran Defender and for some reason it went all the
through. I'll try it again later to see if it is working like it is suppose
to. I'll try to find out (if) I have anti-virus at all since you brought it
up about Windows. On another note, what do you dislike about Vista. I was
thinking about going there. I do like XP Pro though.
Thanks for your response and making me think more on what I am doing with
this thing. The same goes for you Engel.
Merry Christmas. Have a good day. I need a break.

Ahhh, light at the end of the tunnel !!!

You did not answer Engel's very important question,
"...Do you have Windows Live OneCare installed?"

Now we know from your post that you DO Do have Windows Live OneCare installed.

You should not use Defender with WLOC as it contains the basic WD built into
it.
I'm not sure how it relates to the error message that you provided, someone
else can answer that, but basically WD does not work with WLOC. WLOC takes
the place of WD.

As a clarification, you DO have Antivirus Protection! It also comes with
WLOC.
When I said that Windows does not come with Antivirus I meant the basic
install of Windows. WLOC is not part of a default install of Windows. It is
something you add separately.

I don't know what "embarg" is so I can't comment on that.
"On another note, what do you dislike about Vista. I was
thinking about going there. I do like XP Pro though.

Let's make sure this current problem is solved for you first before going
off on Vista ;-)
