Windows Defender Will Not Get Updates

B

Bill Glidden

Windows Defender Beta 2, build 1.1.1347.0, engine 1.1.1303.0, definition
1.0.0.0, running on Windows XP Pro SP2, fully patched.

Defender warns that the definitions have not been updated for 244 days.
When update is attempted, I get a message saying no new definition files or
updates are available.

I have tried:

1. remove / reinstall Defender
2. applied KB 915105
3. used Windows Installer Ceanup Utility to remove Defender and signatures

Nothing fixes the issue.

Interestingly, the WICU shows:

build 1.1.1347.6
definition 1.20.0.0

which is different from the Help, About versions show at the top of my post.

Any ideas on how to fix this, please?

You should post to one of the Windows Defender newsgroups.

Thanks, for the newsgroup references, Rock.
I looked for a _defender_ newsgroup and didn't find one, so I posted here.
Cheers,
Bill
