I am unable to install the latest definitions update to Windows
Defender (Beta).
Definitions Update 1.13.12.76.3 Windows Defender (KB892519).

Any help, or send me in the right direction, is appreciated.

Thanks,

If you can give us more details as to Error message(complete) and what exactly happens maybe someone can help you that knows the answer for this issue

Hi -I am having the same problem; the launch bar shield icon signals it is
there to be installed, but installation just fails every time. No special
message appears - it just fails to install. A search for KB892519 ( the
update) also fails to find it anywhere on MS.
Help - (e-mail address removed)

I am also having this problem. However, if I watch the installation, it is
reported as 'complete', there is no error message, and the warning icon goes
away. Then, about a minute later, the icon reappears and one can go through
the same process all over again, and so on, ad nauseam (which I am rapidly
approaching).

After hours of frustration trying all the suggested solutions, I finally gave
up and did a dumb thing - I reinstalled the defender 2 program over itself,
did not uninstall the version I had running. Believe it or not, that cured
the problem - the latest version installed nad updated to the most current
signature file. Duh!???

There is a lot of discussion about this on the (not very) private defender
beta newsgroups which I was pointed to by someone on another thread. An even
easier approach, described there, is to use the Microsoft Installer Cleanup
utility to remove the signature file (only) and then allow it to reinstall.
In my hands, this brings up a dialog box reporting that the installation has
failed, but the install icon goes away and stays away and both Defender and
the Cleanup utility report that the correct definitions are installed.
