Windows Defender problem to download?

Hi!
I have problems to install windows defender. I recieve an pop up screan that
says:

A required update to windows update is avaliable at the windows update
website. To view a list of installation requirement, visit the Microsoft
website:
http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=63848
I fulfill all demands on this site. A have pentium 4 and 2.93 Mhz in y
computer. But i have real problems with my windows update, that not is
working propely. Therefore i could not recieve some files from windows
update. Could somebody help me??

Can you go to Windows Update, do an Express (Get high-priority updates)
scan, and apply all offered updªtes
http://update.microsoft.com

Could you describe moore in detail, what you mean with "do an express Scan" ?
A step by stet guide. As i see it, i have no oportuinty to change in this
site?
Where should i change to recieve express ? I must have clear instructions
about this

Could you supply some information on what your OS is, firewall, anti-virus,
other RTP programs, etc?

I use IE 6.0 or IE 7.0 . Same result in both cases. I have windows XP with
SP1 and SP2 installed, i use Norman anntiwirus.
I recieve this faulterror : [Number: 0x8DDD0004] when my computer try to
search for windows update.
I have try to use a lot of tips before without suscess... :-(

Finally i solved my problems with update / defender, with a lot of action
according to your/all advice. But i install a new Windows update installer,
and then everything it's see to works
