Windows Defender - need basic information .................ts

I installed the beta defender package some time back, but have mostly
ignored it.

#1 Is it still a valid program? I think last time I tried working with it
upgrades were no longer available.

#2 How can I remove it from my computer? It does not appear in the control
panel's list of programs

The final version Windows Defender was released some time ago. You should
find what you need at
http://www.microsoft.com/protect/computer/spyware/default.mspx.
