Ok, I don't know all the little details about computers...
Does anyone know how many, if I even can, spyware programs I can have
running simultaneously?
Do I have to remove current versions of spyware on my pc?
Any recommendations?
Programs currently on pc: Norton Antivirus 2005
eTrust Pest Patrol Anti-Spyware 2005

There are no known conflicts listed in the known issues posting at the web
site. It may be a good idea to minimize the number of real-time scanners in
use at the same time--but I think you'd be fine--let us know if you see any
evidence to the contrary?

Meanwhile, in the Real world: IMO there should be no conflict between Windows
Defender and Pest Patrol. I briefly used AOLAntispyware at the same time as
MSAS beta1 and Windows Defender beta2 and found no conflicts. AOL
Antispyware is a legitimate Pest Patrol clone. The only issue I noticed was
an increase in CPU and Page File usage, because both programs provide real
time protection. I curently use Windows Defender at the same time as Webroot
Spysweeper, and have no major problems, just small inconvenieces that I can
work out to my satisfaction. Defender has also had some issues with Norton
Security, but I believe that a workaround has been discussed elsewhere in
this newsgroup. I do not have any first hand personal expeience with Norton
combined with Defender. And I have also seen no major incompatibilities with
the free versions of Spybot S&D, Ad Aware SE Personal, or Ewido Anti-Malware
when used with Defender. Any "little inconveniences" can be solved by
tweaking your settings to avoid conflict. The same applies to SpywareBlaster
and Defender.

I'VE BEEN TOLD TO ONLY USE SECURITY PROGRAM AT A TIME. MY SYSTEM WAS RUNNING
SLOW THEN FINALLY EXTREAMLY SLOW EVEN ON HIGH SPEED, IT WAS BECAUSE I DID NOT
DELETE THE PRIOR SECURITY PRODUCT BEFORE INSTALLING THE NEW ONE SO THEN WERE
CONSTANTLY FIGHTING ONE ANOTHER IN THE BACKGROUND SO NOTHING APPREARED AS AN
OBVIOUS FIX TO SPEED UP MY COMPUTER.
I SUGGEST GOING TO "START", "CONTROL PANEL", "SECURITY CENTER", THEN
"CHICK THIS COMPUTER'S SECURITY STATUS" AND FINALLY " SECURITY ESSENTIALS"
AND CHECK EACH FEATURE TO MAKE SURE EACH IS SET TO ON THEN CLICKING ON EACH
ARROW AND IT WILL TELL YOU WHAT SECURITY PROGRAMS ARE RUNNING OR ICHF NOTHING
IS TURNED ON TO PROTECT YOUR COMPUTER. USE ONLY ONE PROGRAM FOR EACH
PROTECTION FEATURE. AFTER AFTER DELEATING UNWANTED PROGRAMS, RESTARTWARDS
CLEAN FILES AND RUN A DEFRAG AND YOUR SYSTEM SHOULD FLY LIKE IT DID WHEN YOU
FIRST GOT IT!-- WORKED FOR ME!!! Bobbi Jo

WHO SAID SO? I DON'T HEAR ANY VOICES. HAVE YOU CONSIDERED SEEING A
PSYCHIATRIST FOR YOUR MENTAL PROBLEMS ESPECIALLY IF YOU CAN HEAR VOICES
through EMAILS? IT MUST BE A SERIOUS MENTAL PROBLEM WHICH SHOULD BE
ATTENDED TO BEFORE YOU COME OUT WITH SOME STUPID COMMENTS AGAIN.
