Ok,thank you so much,
What you say makes sense.
It seems i was trying to install Windows Installer XML v2.0.3620.0
(candle/light)

I'll follow these links and instructions.

The links Donald Anadell posted may not be so easy to follow--I would
recommend sticking with McAfee, assuming they still support their product on
Windows 2000.

There may be a good reason why Windows Defender isn't installable on Windows
2000, although Microsoft does provide a corporate antivirus client--Forefront
client security--that runs on Windows 2000 still.
