windows defender 0x800106ba

i get a windows defender failed to initialize 0x800106ba eror when i try to
run the software. i run win2k sp4 and already have the GDI+ installed

Other users have reported resolution of this one in two possible ways:

1) start, control panel, add or remove programs, Windows Defender, change,
update

2) apply all critical security patches via WindowsUpdate--particularly, make
sure that the Windows Installer 3.1 is installed.
