Windows could not start...

I get the message "Windows could not start because the following file is
missing or corrupt:
WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\SYSTEM

"You can attempt to repair this file by starting Windows Setup using the
original Setup CD-ROM. Select 'r' at the first screen to start repair."

This would seem straightforward but I do not have the original setup CD-ROM,
it did not come with my laptop. What can or should I do?? Is there a disc I
can get from Microsoft?

you need the windows cd to do this, if you can find one from anyone you know
it will work. Microsoft won't have anything for you, they would make you buy
a new CD.

Good luck
