Windows CD Burner Issues

Ever since I've updated Windows XP Pro with SP 2 I've had trouble with the CD
writer. When trying to write I get an error message stating that the CD in
the drive is not writable. I can write to the CDR with Cheetah, so I don't
think the problem is with the drive itself, just the windows cd writer. As
near as I can tell everything is enabled for writing to the drive.

I've also noticed that it doesn't seem to want to update the drive very well
in explorer, but nothing consistent.

Any and all suggestions welcome!

Hi,

You should not employ both the internal burning engine and a third party
program. Doing so often causes irresolvable conflicts. Choose one or the
other, but not both. To disable the internal engine, if it's not already,
click start/run, type msconfig and click ok. Go to the services tab and
disable (uncheck) the imapi burning engine.

I only installed the third party program to check the drive to see if it was
working and is no longer installed. I did check the services in MSCONFIG as
you suggested and found that the IMAPI burning engine was checked, but it is
stopped. Other than that everything I checked on the properties of the drive
show that it is enabled and can burn.
