This message( with a big red X) is intermitently popping up on my desktop:
"Windows can not find c:\windows\installer\ ( long temp file name.exe).
Please make sure you typed the name correctly and try again. To search for a
file, click the Start Button, and then click Search. " It has done this
before and after I installed SP3 so that dosen't seem to be a factor. I am
not doing any searchs with this pops up, it pops up on its own?? Any
suggestions on how to troubleshoot this?
Thanks
KenR

I checked these options out. It says not to use the cleanup utility if you
have office 2007 installed, and I do.

I t also said not to reinstall window installer program if I have sp2
installed. I do and I just installed sp3.

I did cleanup the temp files mentioned in the article. Maybe this will take
care of it.

Any other suggestions??
Thanks

I'd forget all in the 1st post, thats not where the problem exists, simply
go to run,type:msiexec /unregister Return to run,type:msiexec /regserver
Return to run,type:services.msc In msc,scroll to installer,double
click,set to
auto-start,begin service,close out msc.

Thanks, I assume by installer in msc you mean "windows installer", and I
assume by auto start, you mean set to automatic, and begin service you mean
click start and close out means to click apply, click ok and exit. Hopefully
I did this correctly. Thanks for you help,
Ken
