Try booting the computer into Safe Mode.

To do this turn it on and start tapping the F8 key rapidly just as
soon as the first information of any kind shows on the screen. Keep
tapping rapidly until the Windows XP Startup Menu appears and choose
Safe Mode from the menu.

If the Windows XP initial startup splash screen appears you have
missed the Startup Menu and need to try again.

If the computer also reboots when trying to start in Safe Mode then
bring up the Startup Menu again and this time choose "Last known good
configuration".

If neither of these will get the computer started then your next
option is probably to try a Repair Install of Windows XP as per the
instructions at http://michaelstevenstech.com/XPrepairinstall.htm
A Repair Install will preserve your installed applications, user data
files, and configuration settings. Windows Updates will have to be
reinstalled.

If the computer does start up okay either in Safe Mode or Last Known
Good Configuration then open Control Panel - System - Advanced and
click on the Settings button in the Startup and Recovery (bottom)
section. In the Startup and Recovery window click on the checkbox for
"automatically restart" to clear it then click on Apply and OK as
needed to exit.

Also Right-click on My Computer and select Manage. Click on the +sign
in front of the Event Viewer category to show the subcategories and
browse through each of them looking for red flagged error records
whose date and time stamps correspond to your failed bootups.
Double-click on an error record to see the details of that error. Post
the error record information back here if you need further assistance.

Good luck

Okay. Then your next option is to do a Repair Install of your Windows
XP as per the instructions at
