SP3 did me bad!

After months of looking at the critical update window I finally decided to
download SP3. All went well until it said "To continue your computer will be
restarted to finish install."
Now my computer starts to come on then shuts itself down and starts all over
again.
The message reads "We apologize for your inconvenience, but Windows did not
start successfully."(Please use last known good configuration)
I can't get it to stay on, it gets to the Windows logo and boom! it goes
blank only to start again right away and shuts itself off.
It repeats every few seconds.
What can I do short of sueing Microsoft for a new computer.
Pleas HELP!

Do you have an AMD chip. And is this an OEM OS?
There is a fix for this. It will reboot over and over.

1. Boot into Safe Mode and rename INTELPMM.SYS to INTELPMM.OLD.
2. After booting into Safe Mode:
Start --> Run --> (copy/paste)
sc config intelppm start= disabled
--> OK --> Reboot into normal (Windows) mode.

Also if I where to install SP3 I would choose to download the
file and not use Automatic Updates.

Your PC must be at least SP1 or SP2 level as SP3 will not
install on XP Gold.

I would also create an "Image Backup" of my drive prior
to installing SP3 just in case you do have problems.

Yes I did this, it acts like it wants to do something then clicks off.
I tried it in safe mode also.
