Windows boots, then does nothing

I booted up Windows Vista Home Premium (32 bit) this morning, and in the time
it usually takes for it to boot up, I notice that all I get is a black screen
with a cursor on it. This is after the green bars that scroll across the
screen is displayed.

Instinctively, I boot up in safe mode with networking and ask some friends
for advice. They referred me to the event viewer, I open up the event viewer
to see what the problem was, but I can't make any sense of it. I'll post the
most recent events, they probably have something to do with the boot failure.

I've checked the startup configuration, and I can't see anything out of the
ordinary. I run a virus scan using AVG, no such luck in finding a virus or
spy/ad/malware program.

Could someone please advise me on what to do next?

Try booting from the Vista DVD and use the repair option on the setup
screen.

Michaels's advice is solid. Have you made any changes, added any urilites,
programs and so forth - anything out of the ordinary. Good Safe Mode boot -
bum normal boot - is indicative of a driver problem.
