windows audio

I've not had sound on my computer for some time and started with some trouble
shooting and one had me look in the services list for windows audio but it is
not on the list, anyone know what I can do to add it back on the services
list ?

Dear David,

You could try importing a clean set of registry entries for the
service.

Place the following (between the dashes - not including the dashes) in
a file called audio.reg and double click on it to import (merge) with
your registry settings. (Note - these are for XP with service pack 2).

I'd start by checking to make sure the speakers are plugged in and in the
right place. Then I'd check in device manager, Sound, video and game
controllers. Is there an entry for your sound card and is there any
indication of a problem with it?
