i recently installed xp.
now, many windows are oversized for my monitor.
some windows (like print pdf) do not have maximize button, they are preset
screens. the screen is too tall and i cannot see the buttons on the bottom.
how do i make default windows sizes fit in my screen?

Consult the operators manual for your monitor.

Have you considered whether your display's resolution is set too low?
Increasing the resolution (i.e., using more pixels horizontally and
vertically in your display) will give you a better picture which
simultaneously looks smaller on your screen.

To change the resolution size in Windows XP:

1. Right click on the desktop (that's the typicallly blue field of your
display).
2. Select Properties.
3. Select the Settings Tab.
4. Use the Screen Resolution sliding scale to change resolution.

In your case, increaseing resolution ("More") will make everything on your
display look smaller. Conversely, decreasing resolution ("Less") will make
everything look bigger.

You might also want to look at the "Icons, microsoft documents, and Internet
windows appear huge in Windows XP" thread started yesterday, 10/6/05, in this
news group (Windows XP/General).

Good luck!

It sounds like you didn't install drivers for your video card. Get
drivers from:

1. The card mftr.'s website; OR
2. The motherboard mftr.'s website if onboard video; OR
3. The OEM's website for your specific machine if you have an OEM
computer (HP, Dell, Sony, etc.).

Read the installation instructions on the website where you get the
drivers.

If you are unsure what video card you have, go to the Device Manager
(from System applet) and expand the Display category.
