Hi,

I have recently reinstalled my Windows Vista Ultimate x64 (my hardware
config below). After instalation, I just can't get Windows Aero to work. It
won't appear a scheme under Appearences Settings list box.
Before reinstalling Vista, I had the very same version installed and Aero
features worked perfectly. No hardware changes were made.

Hardware:
Intel(R) 946GZ Express Chipset Family
Intel Core2 Duo 1.87 Ghz
2mb DDR2 666
300 IDE Hard Drive (20 gb on windows vista partition is available)

Try this:

1/ Ensure that you have the following registry value set to :

HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\DWM\Composition set to 1 (32-bit DWORD)

HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\DWM\CompositionPolicy set to 2 (32-bit
DWORD)

2/ Restart DWM by opening a command prompt with administrative privileges :

- Type 'net stop uxsms'
- Then 'net start uxsms'

I've only done that in x86 Vista, so not sure how it'll play in x64 Vista,
but it can't hurt. (I don't think... :p )
