Windows Aero is missing

Windows Aero is missing from a list of Appearance Settings/Color Scheme.
What would be the cause of this? Hardware configuration is Athlon
2400+/1.5GB RAM/nVidia GForce 6200 with 256MB(AGP 8X).

Causes could be;
1. You do not have the Nvidia Vista drivers for the release of Vista you
are running.
or
2. You do not have the latest update for the BIOS on your MOBO.

Thanks for your reply.
The problem is with my friend's PC and I am going to visit him tomorrow
to try what you suggested. In the meantime, I have just found that the
speed of the AGP on the motherboard(Elite L7VMM2) is 4X. This means the
GForce 6200 can not operate at its full power. Could this be the cause
of the problem?

Hi Churin
Do a search on this site for AERO. There are a number of post about this and
a registry change that you can make if you have less than 1GB of RAM.

It cerrtainly could be the cause of your problems especially since the 6200
hudred card is not a very pwererfull card especially if ihe model of it
that have does not hav have a high memory bandswith

PalB and JW:

It has 1.5GB RAM so the tweak mentioned may not be applicable.
GeForce 6200 is included in a list of NVIDIA's Windows Vista ready GPUs.

I downloaded drivers from NVIDIA's website which specifically intended
for Windows Vista RC2 and installed but without any luck. Maybe this
problem is due to a bug still left in RC2.

Being Windows Vista capable and being Vindows Vista Premium capable are two
entirely differnent qualifications and in order to run Aero your system has
to Vista Premium capable.
