Windows Advanced Options Menu Upon Startup

When starting Windows XP Home, the "Windows Advanced Options Menu" comes up
every time...as if the F8 key is stuck. It is not. I just want to "Start
Windows Normally" ...not in "Safe Mode"....However, when I click on "Start
Normally"..the system will not budge. So, I go to the "Start from the last
known good configuration" and the system starts up and all is fine. Next time
I restart the system , the "Menu" comes up again...every time.

How can I get rid of this 'detour' to the "Advanced Options Menu' every
time? many THANKS!

Thanks Kelly! Sorry for the delay in responding...I was out of town and away
from the system in question. You got me into the right area...it actually
....under the "general' tab ...was doing a 'selective' boot, instead of a
normal boot. Appreciate your help!
