Windows Activation

I just installed a windows xp on our pc and everytime we use this computer, a
balloon appears below (taskbar) than tells me that there's still a couple of
days to activate my windows. (e.g. You still have 26 days left for the
activation of your Windows)

When I try to activate it by entering the code syicked to the CPU, it says
that the key has exceeded the number of time to be used.. but oh, we bought a
new CD!

Choose the option to call for activate by phone.
Call Microsoft at the displayed number, usually done in about 5 minutes.

You said you bought a new CD - meaning an XP installation CD? Did you also
get a product key with it? Where did you get this CD? Have you tried
activating by phone?

First - you 'bought a new CD'?
But you already had a product key on your computer case?
Or did the sticker come with hyour new CD and *you* stuck it to the computer
case?

You probably would have to activate by phone at some point
instead of Internet. This is where many people get confused. When they try
to activate their legitimate copy over the Internet and they last installed
said copy less than 120 days before - they may get a message that is worded
so badly, they assume they cannot activate that copy at all. It is not
true. Simply choose to activate by telephone instead and it should give you
a phone number (in most cases - toll free to you) and you can activate it
over an automated system via said phone number.

Is this the message that is giving you false impressions?

"According to our records, the number of times you can activate windows with
this product key has been excceeded. Please enter a different product key
then click retry..."

First note that the code is stuck on the computer's case, not the CPU. The
CPU is just an electronic chip (one of many) inside that big box.

it
says that the key has exceeded the number of time to be used.. but

What you say is very confusing. If you bought a new CD and installed from
it, you should be using the code that came with the CD, not what's on the
case.

What is this code on the computer's case? Did you have a previous version of
XP installed? What happened to it? Why did you buy a new copy?

But note that if Windows activation over the internet doesn't work, you are
given an 800 number to call and activate over the phone. That's normally
quick and easy to do. The "exceeded the number of times" message is not
correct and is misleading. There is no limit on how many times you can
reinstall and reactivate, although if you do it too often, you may have to
do it by voice call.
