i believe theyve stopped supporting win98 first edtion
but still support win98se - but its no big deal as there
are plenty of support sites and lots of driver support

Just go to your Internet Explorer and then use product updates for older
versions and windows update for newer browsers.

I visited the MS site today, and read that Win 98SE will no longer be supported.

support for Windows 98 will end on July 1, 2003. Paid-only support
will continue to be available from Microsoft at $35 per incident.
Support will also be available from some third party providers.

"Microsoft will also continue to offer a variety of self-help
resources on the Product Support Services Web site until at least
January 16, 2006, two years after phone support for Windows 98 ends on
January 16, 2004. These resources include the Microsoft Knowledge Base
and Newsgroups."

I don't see anything about 98SE, but I read somewhere else, maybe ARS
Technica, that support for it would end a few weeks after ME supporte
ended (that's right, support for the newer product will be dropped
sooner).

That's because they realize that ME is garbage compared to Win98 I
think.
