Windows 98 Backup to Window XP Home

I backed up files from my windows 98 system on to memorex
music cd-r media. When I attempt to read this disc on my
windows xp home computer it thinks it is a blank cd. When
I read it on my 98 computer, it recognizes the files. I
am new to XP and am not sure if there is something I am
doing wrong or if it is a problem with the type of media
used from the source 98 system. Can someone shed some
light on this?

Try going to my computer,R.click the drive with 98 cd,the files should show i
there.XP uses the file transfer wizard to access former computers or hds t
transfer os,or user profiles.Other methods might work like youve arranged bu
xp probably wont inisuate.Try putting specific files to cd,music,photos,etc for x
to use,otherwise install 2 hds.

Gene;
The back-up application used in Windows 98 is not compatible with
Windows XP.
Simply copy the Windows 98 data to CD then you can read the data on
Windows XP computer.

If you didn't use the 98 backup utility but dragged and dropped files to the
CD, on many setups, XP cannot read the disk as it was packet written,
something XP's built in CD-writing capability does not support. If the
above is how you backed up, you need to install packet writing software such
as the Direct CD or Drag to Disk component of Easy CD Creator, www.roxio.com
or the InCD component of Nero, www.nero.com. Please see websites for
versions compatible with XP and for drive compatibility.
