There are official Microsoft Forums that you can post to. For
example try this link:

You can get the same forum in your newsreader like Outlook Express
(which you seem to be using) if you download an official NNTP
bridge version 1.1 from Microsoft Website. Try this link:

Many users just use the Windows Vista news groups and prefix their
questions with "Windows 7"
Windows Vista and Windows 7 are not identical, but have a decent amount
of communalities.

Some people will tell you, that this is an abuse of the Vista groups,
others will tell you, that this is the way to go, as
Microsoft does not provide a news group.

Up to you to decide.

Probably not. Windows 7 is a piece of shit, as was Vista.
MS just keeps adding more grabage to their operating systems to get
your money. XP was fine and still is. Since XP all they are doing is
trying to make more money without offering anything anyone wants or
needs. Vista and win7 are just bloatware. You keep needing more and
more power so that they can add more useless bloat.

If you aren't going to give the person useful information, you shouldn't
reply at all. Don't tell them to post W7 issues to the Vista newsgroup,
because that is not where they go.

Microsoft has decided not to make any more newsgroups on their server,
instead, they seem to be going to web-based message boards instead.
However, there is a non-Microsoft affiliated newsgroup out there called
alt.windows7.general that many news servers carry (some of them free)
check to see if your favorite news server carries it.

In my opinion this is useful information.
It explains the practice of a non neglectible amount of usenet members
to post Windows 7 problems to vista groups and mark Windows 7 in the
subject line.

- People who don't agree can easily skip (or even filter and will never
be bothered again)
- many issues are the same on Vista and 7.

alt.windows7.general is unfortunately not available at all news feeds.
Mine for example doesn't provide it.

Rather soon this ssue will be obsolete as MC decids to shutdown ALL of
its news servers.
