Windows 2003 functional forest level

I am planning to increase forest functional level to windows 2003 from
windows 2000 native
It's neccsary because I need in few next days change name of few domain
controlers ->
IT STANDARDS

So i have question:

I know how to upgrade, but should I take care of something before that
change ??

No you should be fine so long as you've gotten rid of all the Windows 2000
DCs (and NT4 BDCs), and if you are running Exchange 2000, the RUS needs to
be on an Exchange 2003 server.

If you still have exchange 2000 you might into issues with the
recipient update service if it still on e2k. If you have the
possibility move it to a e2k3 server otherwise you might need to
manual rebuilds

for more info see:

MS-KBQ831809_Exchange 2000 Recipient Update Service does not replicate
changes successfully in forest functional level 1 or 2 in Windows
Server 2003 Active Directory
MS-KBQ873059_The Recipient Update Service does not update objects
correctly when Exchange 2000 Server is running in a Windows Server
2003 forest

Concerning the need to recover groups take a look at:

you might also wanna take a look at:

if the FFL is not 2003 you can still rename the DC through the GUI,
although renaming through NETDOM is recommended
