Windows 2003 Enterprise Server - 64-bit Itanium Edition

Hi,

first of all, apologies for posting to mutliple ng's.

We took delivery of a HP Server the other week with dual 2.4GHz Xeon
processor. The rest of the hardware spec isn't important, but we
cannot install the software.

I was asked to try and I looked at the Windows Server 2003 Enterprise
Edition CD (the hologrammed disk) and noticed it says "for 64-bit
Itanium-based systems".

Now this seems straight-forward to me and it isn't the version for our
32-bit CPUs. But does this just mean the disk also works with 64-bit
systems as well as ours.

Or am I completely wrong and our Xeon system is 64-bit (??!!)

Could anybody shed any light for me... it would be nice to have a
straightforward, "yes this is the wrong disk for the system... get a
new one from your supplier".

The disk part number is X09-45883. We are based in the UK.

Cheers and Merry Christmas!

Matt,

The 64-bit Edition is for Intel Itanium II processors only.
Just contact HP and tell them that they packed the wrong CD if they were
supposed to ship you a copy of and license for Windows Server 2003
Enterprise Edition.
