I use a dual booting machine where I can DialUp a Windows
NT4.0 server using the Windows98SE OS without any
difficulty.

When I try to connect from the Windows2000Pro, using all
of the same DialUp paramenters, I get Error 718. I have on
the occasion of several other tries got ERror 734.

I am the administrator on the NT machine also. If the
answer to the problem is there, I can fix it. But, the
success of the WIN98 connection, leads me to believe that
the configuration fix is probably needed in the WIndows
2000 OS

This issue may occur if either of the following conditions are true:

Multi-link negotiation is turned on for the single-link connection.

-or-
The dial-up connection security configuration is incorrectly configured to use the "Require secured password" setting.

I had found a knowledge base article that said almost the
same thing. The only difference was that you were not
specific about the alternative to "require secure PW". The
article aid to be sure to use "allow unsecured PW". I know
that this is virtually the same thing. But, I thought I
would ask you if there is anything in the "advanced"
settings that might make it work.

I am currently set for "allow unsecured PW" and multi-link
negotiation is not checked.

Thanks, Charts
