Can I install Windows XP Home edition if I have Windows
2000 on my computer? The box indicates it needs Windows
98 but will it install and work if I have 2000?

Hello Judy,

The only way to get your Windows 2000 machine to Windows XP Home would be to
format the partition and do a fresh install of Windows XP Home. Per KB
Article 292607 < http://support.microsoft.com/?id=292607 > the only upgrade
paths from Window 2000 Professional are:
Windows XP Professional Retail (Full) Version
Windows XP Professional Upgrade Version

You could potentially do a dual-boot if you wanted access to both operating
systems. You would simply install a fresh copy of Windows XP Home in
addition to the Windows 2000 install.

You cannnot "Upgrade" from 2000 Pro to XP Home, only to XP Pro. If you
get a Retail XP Home you can do a clean install.
