Windows 2000 won't boot

I've installed Windows 2000 on a 2.5" HD using my desktop (laptop has no CD-ROM or Floppy drive.) When I install the HD in the laptop it boots to the initial "Windows Starting" screen with white bars at the bottom. The bar loads fully but then hangs there. Safe Mode doesn't work either.

Any ideas?

To do this, you have to virtually have the exact same hardware on the
laptop. You can do an Inplace Upgrade and make it work maybe.

Look at it and give it a try. Change your first boot device to CD-ROM, slip
the OS CD in and boot. Watch when you are posting to tap the spacebar (or
any key).
